Kanazawa

Came here for two days to visit the gardens and various other things.  It was a public holiday on the Monday so things were either very busy or shut!  And we're definitely back on the tourist trail, lots more European/American faces and voices.

Went to visit a temple or two, the first one had a lovely café

and a beautiful graveyard.

Then to the famous Myoryu-ji which is part temple, part Samurai stronghold with a maze of passages, traps, secret stairs etc. Photos were not allowed.

Wandered through the Geisha district, not a Geisha in sight.

We returned via another load of Samurai mansions, so lovely and peaceful.

It's hot here, about 30 degrees in the afternoon so went to the Kenrokuen  gardens the next morning.

They're classed as one of the top three gardens in Japan - brilliant.

Moving on again tomorrow, now we've worked out how to use the ticket machine!

Also discovered that if there's a public holiday on a Monday, things like museums and art galleries close on the Tuesday - how annoying!
